As the <br /> Company prepares to introduce an innovative product line and make a substantial <br /> investment in technology, equipment, and tooling , executives are evaluating the <br /> long-term suitability of the current location in Vero Beach , an analysis that requires <br /> the serious examination of several alternative locations . The ultimate location <br /> decision will be based on careful , detailed analysis of various factors , including <br /> operating costs , business climate , quality of airport facilities, labor quality and <br /> availability, taxation , quality of local educational institutions , and other location <br /> factors . <br /> PLEASE NOTE : The existing job figure above is the base number of jobs at the <br /> company when discussions with Enterprise Florida began and the application was <br /> first filed in April 9 , 2007 . Since that time , Piper has added 51 full-time jobs . (This <br /> figure does not include independent contractors , many of whom are highly-paid <br /> professionals with valuable engineering expertise ). For the Closing Grant contract, <br /> the company seeks to use the 963 as the starting employment number. <br /> D. Give a full description of this project, including the primary business activities <br /> / functions : <br /> Piper Aircraft is a leading general aviation manufacturer that builds aircraft for every <br /> aviation mission , from trainers and high-performance aircraft for personal and <br /> business use , to turbine-powered business aircraft. Recently, the Company <br /> announced plans to expand into the jet market. Deliveries of the new jet are <br /> expected in 2010. <br /> The planned launch of the PiperJet is the catalyst for an examination of the optimal <br /> location for the Company's headquarters and manufacturing operations in the long <br /> term .
