APR -71965 <br />aoo 9 Pdf E iirfa <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner <br />lcCullers and unanimously carried that the following be adopted as <br />.official welfare rules for the guidance of the.County Welfare Worker: <br />•,BASIS OF NEED AND ALLOWANCES SETUP BY THE INDIAN RIVER <br />COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />(.••RESIDENCY FOR AID IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY: <br />Residence.in County for 2 years. or by the discretion of Director <br />of County welfare.• Non-residents are helped by appeals to clubs <br />and civicorganizations, if non-residents want to go back to their <br />own county or'state, transportation is.provided by appeals to <br />different charity organizations. <br />2. CASE HISTORIES: <br />'All cases are kept on•file in the county welfare office and are <br />kept up to date, whenever a'case is given help it is noted on <br />their file. New cases are given a through investigation by case <br />worker and put on file. <br />3. Gives a month assistance to those who have applied for State grants, <br />but have emergency needs while application is under study. <br />• <br />4. Supplements State grants only where theses are inadequate to meet <br />special needs arising out of a health problem and where no other <br />resource is available. <br />5. HOSPITALIZATION: one year in county. <br />eor the medically indigent only and at the doctor's request, these <br />cases are taken care of only if they are emergency•or acute, which <br />is •determined by. the doctor. <br />6. NURSING HOME CARE:. 5 years in county <br />At doctor's request, investigation is made and if property is owned <br />the county puts a lien on it, also if they receive State Aid• that is <br />applied along with any pensions that is received. The remainder is • <br />paid by the county. <br />7. BURIAL FOR PAUPERS: <br />•Investigation -Social Security, St. Welfare benefits. If family <br />any part of the expense the County does not pay for burial. <br />8. JOBS: <br />Names and references of applicants kept on file•. <br />9. VERIFICATION: <br />This office verifies inquiries from •out of town agencies.asedissmumw <br />4411411151116* • <br />10. TRANSIENT CASES: <br />screened by the police dept. before being sent to this office for. <br />help which is provided for by the Ministerial Association of Indian <br />River County. <br />11. APPLICATIONS ARE TAKEN FOR: <br />Tumor Clinic <br />Birth. Certificates • <br />Census Records • <br />Rehabilitation <br />Hospitalization . <br />12. Community Resources: <br />Police Dept. <br />Sheriff Dept. <br />St. Welfare <br />County Judge <br />pays <br />
