B . When drilling mud is used in drilling, only high-grade approved clays in common <br /> usage for oil field drilling shall be used in the makeup of the drilling fluid. Drilling <br /> with a mixture of water and unprocessed mud, clay, or other objectionable material <br /> will not be permitted. The drilling fluid shall possess such characteristics as are <br /> required to adequately condition the walls of the hole to prevent caving of the walls as <br /> drilling progresses . <br /> C . A blowout and flow preventor consisting of the appropriate diameter flange and a tee <br /> shall be installed temporarily on top of each casing to control any flow, which might <br /> be encountered while drilling the hole. The total cost for installation and removal of <br /> this item will be incorporated into the unit price set in the bid schedule for drilling or <br /> reaming. <br /> D . Excess water generated during drilling operations shall be collected, settled and <br /> disposed of in a manner approved by the ENGINEER. <br /> E. Drilling mud and cuttings shall be contained on-site in suitable tanks for later disposal <br /> at an approved off-site facility. Mud pits or lined excavations will not be permitted. <br /> 3.0 EXECUTION <br /> 3 . 01 GENERAL <br /> A . The CONTRACTOR will notify the ENGINEER ten days prior to initiating drilling <br /> operations. <br /> B . No drilling operations will be allowed until the CONTRACTOR has provided all of <br /> the necessary permits (Federal , State and Local). <br /> C . All drilling operations will be in strict conformance with all Federal , State and local <br /> laws regulating the drilling of wells. <br /> D . The CONTRACTOR will take all necessary precautions to prevent contamination of <br /> the well during the course of drilling activities . All extraneous fluids on-site and fluids <br /> generated during drilling operations will be controlled at all times. <br /> E . At the direction of the ENGINEER, the CONTRACTOR shall be prepared to drill <br /> using closed circulation systems to control discharge of fluids from the well . <br /> F . The CONTRACTOR will maintain a drillers log on -site at all times which will be <br /> furnished to the ENGINEER daily. The log will contain description of all activities <br /> executed during the day and all material used.
