2 . 3 Cement <br /> 2 . 3 . 1 All cement used on all work shall be Florida Class H sulfates resistant <br /> cement (ASTM CI 50, Type II) conforming to the "Specifications forOil- <br /> Well Cements and Cement Additives" (API Standard l0A) . <br /> 2 .4 Gravel <br /> 2 .4. 1 Gravel must conform in size to SJRWMD rules, regulations, or permit <br /> conditions for well abandonment and the borehole/casing diameter. <br /> Gravel or sand shall only be used during grouting activities if pre- <br /> approved by the ENGINEER. <br /> 2 . 5 Cement Additives <br /> 2 . 5 . 1 Cement additives that may be used to cement in zones of high <br /> permeability (cavities) after being approved by the ENGINEER are : <br /> calcium chloride, gilsonite, cellophane flakes , kolite or equivalent, and <br /> bentonite. Organic polymers, peanut shells, cotton seed hulls may not <br /> used as lost circulation materials . <br /> 2. 6 Accelerants <br /> 2 . 6 . 1 Up to four percent CaCl2may be used as a hardening accelerant after <br /> being approved by the ENGINEER, in which case setting times can be <br /> reduced by one half. <br /> 3 .0 EXECUTION <br /> 3 . 1 Cement Grout Mix <br /> 3 . 1 . 1 Portion 1 cubic foot of cement (i . e. , one 94 pound sack) to not more than <br /> 6.0 gallons of water. Cool clean potable water shall be used to <br /> mechanically mix with cement at the site immediately before placement. <br /> The CONTRACTOR shall make arrangements to secure the volume of <br /> potable water required to complete the work . Consistency and mixing <br /> shall be approved by the ENGINEER. <br /> 3 . 1 . 2 The cement grout may be composed of between 4 to 12 percent additives <br /> if the need for such additives can be justified .
