Mr. Thomas H. Trent, Civil Defense Director, presented quotations <br />that he had received for boots, raincoats and flash lights. Commissioner <br />Waddell suggested that the purchase of these items be delayed tempor— <br />arily since there is not an urgent need for them. Motion was made <br />by Commissioner Waddell, seconded. by Commissioner Macdonald and un- <br />animously carried that the request of the Civil Defense Director <br />concerning the federal budget for the fiscal year from July 1, 1965, <br />to June 30, 1966, be referred to the Clerk for incorporation in the <br />county budget, subject to the public hearings on the budget by the <br />Commission. <br />The County Attorney reported that he had received a letter <br />from Mr. W. L. Hendry, County Attorney of Okeechobee County, stating <br />that the Board of County Commissioners of Okeechobee County unanimously <br />support Indian River County on their effort to obtain the Fourth <br />District Court of Appeal and have urged their legislative delegation <br />to support legislation in this behalf. Commissioner Waddell requested <br />the Clerk to send a copy of this letter to Senator Barber and Repre- <br />sentative Karst in Tallahassee. <br />The County Attorney reported that in his opinion the Board's <br />expenditure to purchase a page in the Anniversary Edition of the <br />Press -Journal for county publicity would be legal. <br />The County Engineer presented quotations for the painting of <br />the Tax Assessor's office and Commissioner Waddell moved, seconded <br />by Commissioner Haffield and unanimously carried, that the Tax Assessor's <br />office by painted by Don Smith for $325.00. <br />Upon Motion made by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner <br />Waddell, and unanimously carried, the following Resolution was adopted: <br />BOOK 9 PAGE 215 <br />MAY 51965 <br />
