as Surety, was unanimously approved. <br />On Motion by Commissioner McCullers, seconded by Commissioner <br />Waddell, the following Resolution was unanimously adopted: <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, the citizens of Indian River County have been <br />injured by the lack of railway passenger service during the period <br />• the Florida East Coast Railway has failed to provide same, and <br />WHEREAS, the citizens•of Indian River.County have been <br />greatly injured by not being able to haveconnecting rail service <br />from Vero Beach to northern metropolitan centers; and <br />WHEREAS, the citizens of Indian River County have sufrered <br />financial damages by the lack of direct railroad traffic from the <br />metropolitan areas of the country to this County; and <br />WHEREAS, the citizens of Indian River County have been <br />extremely injured by the lack of railway mail service and railway <br />express service since the passenger service was removed from, the <br />• Florida East Coast Railway; .and <br />WHEREAS, the limited effort put forth by the Florida East <br />Coast Railway for passenger service is far lacking from what is <br />necessary to serve their citizens and the showing by the Florida <br />East Coast Railway that the service that they are furnishing would <br />endanger the life of any person using said service; and <br />WHEREAS, the Florida East Coast Railway has refused to <br />take steps to furnish passenger service to residents and visitors <br />of this County and to take full advantage of the facility that is <br />available to them; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Com- <br />missioners of Indian River County, in regular session this the 8+11 <br />day of December, 1965, that they urge the Florida Public Service <br />Commission in their hearing that they are holding in Vero Beach on <br />December 9 to again require said railroad to provide the many services <br />that were provided by the railroad to the traveling public prior to <br />the strike. i ib ' � 9 <br />DEC 8 1965 <br />
