1 <br /> DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING <br /> ' PART 1 : GENERAL <br /> ' 1 .01 SCOPE OF WORK <br /> A. This Section specifies the general requirements for the delivery handling, storage and <br /> ' protection for all items required in the construction of the work . Specific <br /> requirements , if any, are specified with the related item . <br /> ' 1 . 02 TRANSPORTATION AND DELIVERY <br /> A . Transport and handle items in accordance with manufacturer's instructions . <br /> ' B . Schedule delivery to reduce long-term on- site storage prior to installation and/or <br /> operation. Under no circumstances shall equipment be delivered to the site more than <br /> one month prior to installation without written authorization from the Engineer. <br /> C . Coordinate delivery with installation to ensure minimum holding time for items that <br /> ' are hazardous , flammable, easily damaged or sensitive to deterioration . <br /> D . Deliver products to the site in manufacturer's original sealed containers or other <br /> ' packing systems, complete with instructions for handling, storing, unpacking, <br /> protecting and installing. <br /> ' E . All items delivered to the site shall be unloaded and placed in a manner, which will not <br /> hamper the Contractor's normal construction operation or those of subcontractors and <br /> other contractors and will not interfere with the flow of necessary traffic . <br /> F . Provide necessary equipment i ment d personnel to unload all items delivered to the site . <br /> P an <br /> ' G. Promptly inspect shipment to assure that products comply with requirements , <br /> quantities are correct, and items are undamaged . For items furnished by others (i . e . <br /> ' Owner, other Contractors) , perform inspection in the presence of the Engineer. Notify <br /> Engineer verbally, and in writing, of any problems . <br /> ' 1 . 03 STORAGE AND PROTECTION <br /> A. Store and protect products in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, with <br /> ' seals and labels intact and legible . Storage instruction shall be studied by the <br /> Contractor and reviewed with the engineer by him/her. Instruction shall be carefully <br /> followed and a written record of this kept by the Contractor. Arrange storage to <br /> permit access for inspection . <br /> Store loose granular materials on solid flat surfaces in a well-drained area. Prevent <br /> ' mixing with foreign matter. <br /> Cement and lime shall be stored under a roof and off the ground and shall be kept <br /> completely dry at all times .
