WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 1966 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County <br />met in Regular Session at the Courthouse, Vero Beach, Florida, on <br />Wednesday, February 9, 1966, at 8:30 o'clock A. M. All members were <br />present. Also present were County Attorney John H. Sutherland, County <br />Engineer Edwin S. Schmucker, and Alfred H. Webber and Ruth Elliott, <br />Deputy Clerks. <br />The Chairman, Robert W. Graves, asked if there were any <br />corrections to the minutes of January 5 and January 19, 1966. There <br />were none and. On Motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner <br />McCullers and carried, the minutes were approved. <br />On Motion by Commissioner McCullers, seconded by Commissioner <br />Macdonald and unanimously carried, the following policies for County <br />Welfare Aid was approvedto supercede the policies adopted April 7, <br />' 1965, in Minute Book 9, page 198. <br />POLICIES FOR COUNTY AID <br />1. RESIDENCE: 2 Years in County or at the discretion <br />of the Director of Welfare. <br />2. MEDICAL: Emergency needs arising out of a health <br />problem and where no other resources are <br />available. <br />3. GENERAL ASSISTANCE: One month emergency assistance <br />consisting of five (5) dollar food. voucher. <br />4. HOSPITALIZATION: 2 years in County or by the discretion <br />of Director and only for acute or emergency <br />cases. <br />5. NURSING..: HOME CARE: 5 years in County. Patients resources <br />such as V.A. pensions, Social Security, RR <br />pensions, etc. are to be applied. toward cost <br />of care, also patient must qualify for State <br />Welfare Aid. Lien on patients property. <br />Patient to be put in nursing home where costs <br />can be met by Welfare Department. Only family <br />or friend may apply. <br />6. BURIAL: Paupers burial for adults, $87.50 and $35.00 for <br />child.
