RESOLUTION <br />NO.66-28 <br />WHEREAS, in the proposed plans presented by' -the Central and <br />Southern Florida Flood Control.District and the U.S. Army Corp of <br />Engineers there will be a Sebastian Canal, (C54), running from the <br />Si. Johns Marsh to the Sebastian River; and <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable after the completion of <br />this flood way for the public and' boating interests to go from the <br />Indian River to the St'. Johns River; and <br />WHEREAS, the Sebastian Canal would be the only entrance in this <br />area from the Indian River through the Sebastian River and canal to <br />Std. Johns River for the tourists and residents from Brevard. and <br />iver Counties to thoroughly enjoy the fishing and boating <br />the St. Johns River Valley; and <br />this would be a tremendous asset for the local fishing <br />r. eIN�QINA AlR <br />and oats g industries; and <br />'WHEREAS, the present accessibility to the area is very poor and <br />an additional access would tremendously improve its usefulness; and <br />1 <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County <br />hereby state the necessity of being able to commute from the Indian <br />River to the St. Johns River by boat for recreational purposes; and <br />WHEREAS, the tentative plans presented by the Central and Southern <br />Florida Flood Control District and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers do <br />not include any boat locks or boat lifts in order to use the Sebastian <br />Canal for boating; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners <br />of Indian River County, Florida, in regular session, this the 6th day <br />of July, 1966, do hereby request the U.S.'Army Corp of Engineers, the <br />Board of Governors of the Central and Southern Florida Flood Control <br />District and all other responsible agencies to make the proposed <br />BOOK 9 PAGE 661 <br />
