<br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County met in
<br />Special Session on Monday, November 14, 1966, at 8:30 o'clock A. M.
<br />Present were Robert W. Graves, Chairman, D. B. McCullers, Vice Chairman,,
<br />and members Donald Macdonald, Jerre J. Haffield and Dr. B. Q. Waddell.
<br />Also present were Homer C. Fletcher, Tax Assessor., and his Attorneys,
<br />B. T. Cooksey and William O'Neal, County Attorney. John H. Sutherland,
<br />County Administrator Jack Jennings, Alfred H. Webber and Ruth Elliott,
<br />Deputy Clerks, and Holly :lohnson, Official Court. Reporter.

<br />of Equalization as provided by law,.. and pursuant to
<br />the foregoing
<br />Mr. Fletcher stated that he had rejected the application of Mr.
<br />Warren G. McLaughlin, Lot F, Block 3, Replat of McAnsh Park, for homestead
<br />exemption because the homestead was abandoned, house vacant, and occupancy
<br />is one of the qualifications for homestead exemption, therefore the applic-
<br />ation was disapproved. Mr. Fletcher presented the facts, as he found them
<br />in his investigation. Mr. McLaughlin was present at the meeting and
<br />gave reasonS.3whyhe felt he was within his rights in asking for homestead
<br />exemption.
<br />After discussion, Commissioner Waddell moved that the application
