- TUMDAY,- FEBRUARY 5th -1959. <br />The Board of County Commissioners in and ,for Indian River County, Florida, met <br />at the Court House in Vero Beach, at 10 o'clock A.M.Tuesday, February 5th 1959, <br />with the following members of the Board present: John H. Atkin, Temporary Chairman, <br />J. D. Yongue; J. W. LaBruoe; J.J.P.Hamilton and Albert 0. Helseth. Also present <br />were Miles Farren, Clerk and =Clark S. Rice, Sheriff. <br />The minutes of the previous meeting was read and approved. <br />The Tax Collector filed -his monthly report of license issued, showing $69.00 <br />collected for the State and $34.50 collected for the County. <br />It was moved by J. D. Yongue that Albert O. Helseth be elected permanent Chai <br />man of this Board. <br />It was moved by J. F. LaBruoe that John H. Atkin be elected permanent Chair- <br />man of this Board. <br />Secret ballot being taken it was determined that Albert O.-Helseth is elected <br />permanent Chairman of this Board until further orders, he receiving three votes and <br />John H. Atkin, one vote. <br />Ballots being taken for the appointment of a County Attorney for the ensuing <br />u <br />year, James T. Vooelle received two votes and Paul H. Nisle received one vote, and <br />it was declared that lames T. Vooelle is selected Attorney for this Board for the <br />year 1929. <br />9 Chairman Albert 0. Helseth then assumed his duties as Chairman of the Board <br />of County Commissioners. <br />E. P. Ellington appeared before the Board and requested road heretofore gran <br />known as Road G-1 be opened up. It was ordered that the Engineer be instructed to <br />clear this road and build necessary bridge across the canal. <br />County Judge Otis M. Cobb appeared before the Board respecting salary as Judge <br />of Juvenile Court requesting a salary of $100.00 per month as such and the possibil9 <br />of paying that amount .for the two years last past, to be paid out of the Fine & <br />Forfeiture Fund, and after considerable discussion it was ordered this matter be <br />carried over until the afternoon session. <br />Deputy Sheriff bond of T. M. Himes in the sum of $19000.00 with C. G. Filhoit <br />and F. F. Graves as sureties was approved. <br />Deputy Sheriff bond of William Frick in the sun of $19000.00 with Nellie M.o <br />Babb and William Atkin as sureties was approved. <br />It was moved, seconded and carried that County Judge be paid a salary of $50. <br />per month out of the Fine & Forfeiture Fund, effective January lst 192199 as Judge <br />the Juvenile Court. <br />1 <br />It was moved, seconded and carried that the County Judge be paid the sum of <br />$50.00 per year as Judge of Juvenile Court for the years 1927 and 1928. <br />I <br />t was moved, seconded and carried that the p following P � arsons be designated <br />and named for thevrespective position and for the salary indicated, per month, as <br />y follows: <br />Leila M.
