SECTION 02510 <br />STABILIZED SUBGRADE <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.1 SCOPE <br />A. The work specified in this Section consists of furnishing all material, transportation, <br />tools, labor, and equipment to construct a firm and unyielding subgrade and all <br />items called for or that can be reasonably inferred from the Drawings, including <br />adding material, mixing, stabilizing, compacting, grading, testing, and other work as <br />required for a complete job. This does not include subgrade for pump station <br />driveway which is included in Section 02714, <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br />2.1 PRODUCTS <br />A. MATERIAL - Use local or hauled -in clean sand or sand and clay. <br />Be STABILIZERS - Use high -bearing -value soil, sand -clay, ground limestone, crushed <br />limerock, oyster shell, coquina shell, or rock screenings. Do not use muck, trash or <br />hardpan. <br />C. If soil cement paving is proposed do not use local yellow sand. <br />D. In addition to these Specifications, the materials shall be in accordance with Section <br />914, "Materials for Subgrade Stabilization," of the DOT Standard Specifications for <br />Road and Bridge Construction, latest edition. In the event of a conflict, the more <br />stringent specification shall govern. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.1 EXECUTION <br />A. When completed, the stabilized subgrade shall conform to the sections shown on <br />the Contract Drawings. <br />Be If the natural soils are acceptable for subgrade material, but do not meet the <br />required stability, approved stabilizing material may be brought in and uniformly <br />mixed with the existing material to the depths shown on the Contract Drawings to <br />produce the required bearing values, in accordance with Section 160-5.3 "Mixing" of <br />the DOT Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, <br />02510-1 02510 — Stabilized Subgrade <br />
