SECTION 02714 <br /> STABILIZED SUBGRADE <br /> PART 1 - GENERAL <br /> 1 . 01 SCOPE <br /> Under this item, the Contractor shall furnish all equipment, labor, materials, and transportation <br /> necessary to construct a stabilized subgrade course upon the compacted in-place material for the <br /> pump station driveway. <br /> 1 . 02 REFERENCES <br /> Standards applicable in this Specification shall be : <br /> A. Florida Department of Transportation - Standard Specifications . for Road and Bridge <br /> Construction (latest edition) <br /> B . American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) <br /> 1 . AASHTO T- 180 - Test for Moisture-Density Relations of Soils using a 10 lb. Rammer <br /> and an 18-inch Drop . <br /> C . ASTM International (ASTM) <br /> 1 . ASTM D 1557 - Test Method for Laboratory Compaction Characteristics of Soil <br /> Using Modified Effort <br /> 2 . ASTM D 2167 - Density and unit weight of soil in place by the rubber balloon method <br /> 3 . ASTM D 2922 (2001 ) - Standard Test Methods for Density of Soil and Soil - <br /> Aggregate in Place by Nuclear Methods (Shallow Depth) <br /> 1 . 03 DESCRIPTION <br /> The subgrade will be constructed such that after being compacted it will conform to the lines and <br /> grades as shown on the Drawings . The subgrade shall be Type-B (LBR) , stabilized and constructed <br /> in accordance with the 2002 edition of the Florida D . O .T . Specifications , Section 160 . <br /> PART 2 - MATERIALS <br /> 2 . 01 The subgrade shall have a minimum Florida Bearing Value of 50 as determined by the Florida Soil <br /> Bearing Test. In an area where the bearing value is less than 50 , stabilizing material approved by the <br /> Engineer shall be furnished by the Contractor, spread and mixed in accordance with Section 160-5 . 3 <br /> "Mixing" of the 2006 Edition of the Florida D . O . T. Specifications. <br /> PART 3 - EXECUTION OF WORK <br /> 3 .01 The subgrade shall be shaped, graded, and rolled to conform to the lines and grades as shown on the <br /> Drawings . Fine grading of the subgrade to its final profile shall be accomplished after the existing <br /> ground has been excavated as close as possible to the design elevations. <br /> 02714 — Stabilized Subgrade <br /> 02714. 1 <br />
