WEDNESDAY, MAY 10, 1967 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, <br />Florida, met in regular session at the Courthouse, Vero Beach, Florida, <br />on Wednesday, May 10, 1967, at 8:30 o'clock A. M. Present were <br />Robert W. Graves, Chairman; D. B. McCullers, Jr., Vice -Chairman; <br />Donald Macdonald, Richard Bogosian, and Jack Dritenbas. Also present <br />were County Administrator Jack G. Jennings; County Attorney Shermah <br />N. Smith, Jr., and Deputy Clerks, Alfred H. Webber, and Ruth Elliott, <br />The Chairman caledithe meeting to order and asked if there <br />were any corrections or additions to the minutes of April 5, April 14, <br />April 18, and April 19, 1967. There were none, and on motion by <br />Commissioner. Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner Bogosian and unanimously <br />carried, the minutes were approved as written. <br />Mrs. Gladys Vigliano, County Welfare Worker, -submitted d: <br />request for nursing home care for Mr. and Mrs. Maurie Marks, who lived <br />in this county during the years 1942 to 1946 and ;961 to 1964, then <br />returned to Veto Beach and were placed in a nursing home on June 5, <br />1966. The Board requested Mrs. Vigliano to advise them that they do <br />not qualify for county welfare aid because of the residency require- <br />ment of five years. <br />Mr. James F. Pryde, City Manager, appeared before the Board <br />and requested that the City of Vero Beach be allowed to dump garbage at <br />the County's Sanitary Landfill because of the fact that they have <br />had to close their dump due to the fire hazard during the current dry <br />weather. It was moved by Commissioner Dritenbas, seconded by <br />Commissioner Bogosian and unanimously carried that the City of Vero <br />Beach be permitted to use the county's sanitary landfill, without charge, <br />on a temporary basis. <br />The County Administratorreported that the Corps of Army <br />Engineers have requested by letter dated. April 27 defikite word and <br />comments from this Board on thepending.dredging permit application <br />• <br />SAJVK-A (67-142) submitted by Robert P. McLarty. <br />Approximately fifty persons were present and Mr. James V. <br />Slade stated "they were present to support the Board in a motion that <br />the Corps of Army Engineers be advised that the permit be denied and <br />they were prepared to speak and give the Board information to justify„n <br />that stand".
