After considerable discussion the Board thanked Mr. Southworth <br />for the information submitted. No action was taken by the Board. <br />,Attorney G. W. Stikelether appeared before the Board presenting <br />a petition signed by two hundred and eighty (280) property owners in <br />the Gifford Area requesting the establishment of a Special Improvement <br />Service District pursuant to Chapter 61-2277 for the purpose of _ <br />providing a water and sewerage system. He showed an aerial photograph <br />pointing out the area of the proposed District. Mr. Stikelether <br />stated that the names of the signers of the petition would be given to <br />the Supervisor of Elections for survey as to whether they were <br />registered free holders, if so, they would number over one fourth of <br />all registered free holders in the area and would take further action. <br />A Motion was made by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner <br />Bogosian and unanimously carried that the Board does acknowledge receipt <br />of the petition signed by qualified electors who own property and reside <br />in a, certain area in Indian River County, Florida requesting a Special <br />Improvement District pursuant to Chapter 61-2277 Laws of Florida, and <br />the Board does herewith refer the petition to the Supervisor of Elections, <br />formerly known as the Supervisor of Registration of this County with <br />directions that she examine the petition and indicate thereon the <br />qualified free holders residing in the area and that she file this <br />with the Board of County Commissioners setting forth the number of those <br />who own real property from the number thereof who have signed the <br />petition. <br />Forrest McCullars, County Agricultural Agent reported that there <br />was an infestation of fruit flies in the state. He reported that this <br />was of no signifigancein Indian River County at this time; but that if <br />it did become a problem here, applications to the Program, which would <br />assist in one third of the cost, were available to us. <br />The Board recessed at 11:45 A. M. and reconvened at 1:00 P. M. <br />A letter was received from Ed Schlitt Agency reporting that the <br />house at the old Winter Beach Bridge Head Property mentioned in the <br />minutes of September 20 is uninsurable at the present time. <br />After some discussion the Board decided that State Roalfiepailkst <br />800k PAUJOU <br />DEC 61967 <br />
