RESOLUTION NO. 68- 5 <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 67-2012, Laws of Florida, relating <br />to Indian River County animals, requires the vaccination, certification <br />and tagging of certain dogs; authorizes the Board of County Commis- <br />sioners of Indian River County, Florida, to cause certain animals to <br />be impounded, examined and disposed of; and makes certain conduct <br />with respect to animals and impounding officers, agents and employees <br />unlawful; and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 59-1375 authorizes and empowers <br />the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, <br />to acquire, maintain and operate facilities for the care and disposition <br />of animals, either upon its own part or by entering into a contract there- <br />for with any non-profit corporation in said County owning or operating <br />such a facility or service; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian <br />River County, Florida, has entered into a contract with the Humane <br />Society of Vero Beach, Inc. a non-profit corporation, whereby said <br />Society has agreed to provide facilities and render services to said <br />County for the compensation set forth therein; and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 672012 authorizes the Board of County <br />Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, to designate impounding <br />officers and to adopt and enforce rules and regulations carrying out the <br />purposes of said Act; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of <br />County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida: <br />1. It shall be the duty of every person, firm or corpora- <br />tion owning, possessing, harboring, keeping or maintaining any dog over <br />four (4) months old in Indian River County, Florida, to provide such <br />dog with a collar or harness of leather, metal or equivalent material <br />1 <br />jo 2 41968 <br />
