ALTERNATE BID 2 <br /> SPRIGGING <br /> PART 1 = GENERAL <br /> 1 . 01 DESCRIPTION <br /> The contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment and materials necessary for <br /> grassing all areas indicated on plans . Contractor must provide statement of <br /> additional time required to Contract to allow for full grow-in of sprigs . Additional <br /> time statement must be included with bid . <br /> 1 . 02 STORAGE OF MATERIALS <br /> The Contractor shall provide space for storage of sprigs prior to place in a manner <br /> that will not endanger or restrict pedestrian or vehicular traffic or interfere with <br /> other aspects of the work . <br /> PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br /> 2 . 01 SPRIGS <br /> The fields shall be sprigged with 419 Hybrid Bermuda Grass Sprigs . <br /> 2 . 02 GRASSING EQUIPMENT <br /> A. Rollers : <br /> A cultipacker, traffic roller or other suitable equipment will be required for <br /> rolling the sprigged area . <br /> PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> 3 . 01 SPRIGGING <br /> Install 419 Hybrid Bermuda grass sprigs at a rate of 30 bushels per 1000 SF . <br /> Water immediately after planting and keep soil moist for 3 to 5 weeks. One week <br /> after planting , apply 250 pounds ammonium nitrate per acre , once each week for <br /> the first 3 weeks . Apply when grass blades are dry. Follow by watering to prevent <br /> burning . Apply Y4 Ib . 24D per acre to control broadleaf weed as labeled until <br /> weeds are gone . Begin mowing turf at 1 " height 3 to .4 weeks after planting . <br /> Second application to be 500 pounds per acre application of 10-20-30 fertilizer. <br /> Repeat ammonium nitrate applications as necessary until grow-in is complete. <br /> A . Watering : <br /> Newly-sprigged areas are to be watered by Contractor as necessary to keep <br /> sprigs alive . Dead sprigs shall be replaced by Contractor prior to closout . <br /> Be Rolling : <br /> Immediately after completion of the sprigging , the entire grassed area shall <br /> be rolled thoroughly with the specified equipment . At least two trips over the <br /> entire area will be required . <br /> C .
