Upon a Motion made by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by <br />Commissioner Bogosian the following Resolution was unanimously <br />adopted: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 68.40 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, <br />Florida, resolves: <br />1. That this Board is aware of the fact that under date of July 15, <br />1966, Robert P. McLarty and Dodo W. McLarty, his wife, of this County, <br />did convey a parcel of property in this County to the Florida Board of Parks <br />and Historic Memorials, an agency of the State of Florida, and that said site <br />has great historic interest and value because it has been established that the <br />survivors from the loss of the Spanish Fleet of 1715 established their tem- <br />porary camp on this site and that in recent dears, under authority of the <br />State, artifacts and treasure have been salvaged from the sunkenand wrecked <br />ships from that fleet in the immediate vicinity of this site and that in the said <br />deed, the State of Florida did agree within three (3) years from the date of <br />the deed to begin the erection of a museum building for the display of <br />artifacts and treasure owned by the State salvaged from the mentioned fleet <br />and in the event the conditions named are not met within the time specified, <br />the deed becomes void and the property reverts to Mr. and Mrs. McLarty. <br />2. That it is the opinion of this Board that it would be a tragedy <br />which could never be corrected if the purposes and intent of said deed are <br />not carried out within the time specified and this. Board does herewith offer <br />its assistance in cooperation to the Florida Board of Parks and Historic <br />Memorials in order to enable it to meet all of these conditions. <br />3. That this Board does herewith respectfully request the Budget <br />Commission of the State of Florida to make available to the Florida Board of <br />Parks and Historic Memorials the necessary sum of money to permit the <br />erection of a museum building within the time required. <br />4.
