The "Z" Rule qualifier code shall be reported when the total number of colonies of all types is more than 200 in all dilutions of the sample. When applicable to the observed test results, a numeric value for the colony count for the microorganism tested shall be estimated from the highest dilution factor (smallest Z sample volume) used for the test and reported with the qualifier code.; Contract Colonies on plate too numerous to count (TNTC).
