SECTION 01541 <br /> PROTECTION OF THE WORK AND PROPERTY <br /> 1 . 6 DAMAGE TO EXISTING STRUCTURES AND UTILITIES <br /> A . The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for and make good all damage to <br /> pavement beyond the limits of this Contract , buildings , telephone or other <br /> cables , water pipes , sanitary pipes , or other structures which may e <br /> encountered , whether or not shown on the Drawings . <br /> B . Information shown on the Drawings as to the location of existing utilities has <br /> been prepared from the most reliable data available to the Engineer . This <br /> information is not guaranteed , however , and it shall be this CONTRACTOR 9s <br /> responsibility to determine the location , character and depth of any existing <br /> utilities . He shall assist the utility companies , by every means possible to <br /> determine said locations . Extreme caution shall be exercised to eliminate any <br /> possibility of any damage to utilities resulting from his activities . <br /> 1 . 7 ADJUSTMENTS OF UTILITY CASTINGS COVERS AND BOXES <br /> A . All existing utility castings , including valve boxes , junction boxes , manholes , pull <br /> boxes , inlets and similar structures in the areas of construction that are to <br /> remain in service shall be adjusted by the CONTRACTOR to bring them flush <br /> with the surface of the finished work . <br /> B . The CONTRACTOR shall coordinate the utilities to ensure proper construction <br /> sequencing .
