The Attorney to the Board reported that the 1.2 acres of <br />Federal Property to be released by the Federal Government does <br />lie within the limits ofIndian River Shores. He stated that cost <br />of.procurement would be 50% of the appreciated value, which at this <br />time is $62,000.00; that the next step in procurement is to make a <br />formal application. A Motion was made by Commissioner Massey, <br />seconded by Commissioner McCullers and unanimously carried that <br />the Attorney to the Board submit a formal application for the <br />procurement of the 1.2 acres of Federal Land. <br />On a Motion made by Commissioner Bogosian, seconded by <br />Commissioner Massey, and unanimously carried, the Attorney to the <br />Board was authorized to call a meeting with the City Council of <br />Fellsmere, the City Council of Vero Beach and the County Tax Assessor <br />in order to place a value on tax lands which have reverted to the <br />County, in order that these may be sold to the public. <br />PETITION <br />To the hirable members of the State Legislature representing <br />Indian River County and to the Honorable Board of County.Com- <br />mirsioners of Indian River County, we the registered voters of <br />Indian River County present the following petition - <br />To designate the new high level Wabasso Bridge as the 'Joe S. <br />Earman Bridge" in commemoration of the'fact t.h'tt he As Chairman <br />of the Florida Inland Navigation District auccessfuly promoted . <br />and obtained the enabling Fiscal Programs' eriri ;,Intra,^ts for the <br />bridge after five ye9rs of effort towards that goal. <br />We further petition that,the important approach to the bridge be <br />designated as the "A. B. Michael Causeway" as a tribute to an <br />honored end beloved' citizen of the community especially served <br />by the bridge. <br />T. O.,. <br />Commissioner Loy,having presented the 'above petition, containing <br />364 signatures, and having requested that the petition be made a <br />part of these minutes; made a Motion that the petition be approved, <br />the Motion was seconded by Commissioner McCullers. Commissioner <br />Massey voting against the petition, said that he felt the Bridge <br />should remain the "Wabasso Bridge".
