102-6 .3 Construction Methods : Select and use construction methods and materials that <br /> provide a stable and safe detour facility. Construct the detour facility to have sufficient durability <br /> to remain in good condition, supplemented by maintenance , for the entire period that the detour <br /> is required . <br /> 102-6 .4 Removal of Detours : Remove detours when they are no longer needed and <br /> before the Contract is completed. Take ownership of all materials from the detour and dispose of <br /> them, except for materials , which might be on loan from the Department with the stipulation that <br /> they are returned. <br /> 102-6 .5 Detours Over Existing Roads and Streets : When the Department specifies that <br /> traffic be detoured over roads or streets outside the project area, do not maintain such roads or <br /> streets . However, maintain all signs and other devices placed for the purpose of the detour. <br /> 102-6. 6 Operation of Existing Movable Bridges : The Department will maintain and <br /> operate existing moveable bridges that are to be removed by the Contractor until such time as <br /> they are closed to traffic . During this period, make immediate repairs of any damage to such <br /> structures caused by use or operations related to the work at no expense to the Department, but <br /> do not provide routine repairs or maintenance . In the event that use or operations result in <br /> damage to a bridge requiring repairs , give such repairs top priority to any equipment, material , or <br /> labor available . <br /> 1024 Traffic Control Officer. <br /> Provide uniformed law enforcement officers , including marked law enforcement <br /> vehicles , to assist in controlling and directing traffic in the work zone when the following types <br /> of work is necessary on projects : <br /> 1 . Traffic control in a signalized intersection when signals are not in use . <br /> 2 . When Standard Index No . 619 is used on Interstate at nighttime and called for <br /> in the plans . <br /> 3 . When Standard Index No . 655 Traffic Pacing for overhead work is called for in <br /> the plans or approved by the Engineer. <br /> 4 . When pulling conductor/cable above an open traffic lane on limited access <br /> facilities , when called for in the plans or approved by the Engineer. <br /> 102-8 Driveway Maintenance. <br /> 102-8 . 1 General : Ensure that each residence and or business has safe , stable , and <br /> reasonable access . <br /> 102-8 .2 Construction Methods : Place , level , manipulate , compact, and maintain the <br /> material , to the extent appropriate for the intended use . <br /> As permanent driveway construction is accomplished at a particular location, the <br /> Contractor may salvage and reuse previously placed materials that are suitable for reuse on other <br /> driveways . <br /> 102 -9 Temporary Traffic Control Devices . <br /> 102-9 . 1 Installation and Maintenance : Install and maintain temporary traffic control <br /> devices as detailed in the . plans , Index 600 of the Design Standards and when applicable , in <br /> accordance with the approved vendor drawings , as provided on the Qualified Products List <br /> (QPL) or the Approved Products List (APL) . Erect the required temporary traffic control devices <br /> to prevent any hazardous conditions and in conjunction with any necessary traffic re -routing to <br /> protect the traveling public , workers , and to safeguard the work area. Use only those devices that <br /> -27 - <br /> FPID (S ) : 423186 - 1 - 58 - 01 <br />
