f <br />f f��RA '•.�IYIryS�i y1.1, <br />WHEREAS, THE American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary <br />adopted the Memorial Poppy as its memorial flower in 1917, <br />and <br />Zr1I-iEREAS, by wearing the Poppy, Americans everywhere and <br />especially in this county of Indian River both pay tribute to <br />these war dead and aid the living by assistance to veterans <br />and their families in th&se time of need; and <br />WER.EAS, The Poppy Day Program contributions are used solely <br />for the programs of Child Welfare and Rehabilitation in our <br />county and state; <br />Now therefore, we the Commissioners of Indian River County do <br />hereby proclaim the month of May 1970 as Poppy month and <br />May 22-23.as Poppy Days in our county and we urge all citizens <br />of our county to join with us in the wearing of the Memorial <br />Flower as together we remember the sacrifices of so many in <br />defense of our freedom. <br />Signe ..... L • <br />Hal O'Conner, Merritt Island & Pelican Island National <br />Wildlife Refuge appeared requesting permission from the Board <br />to build a boathouse in the vicinity of Wabasso Island #2. The <br />Administrator was requested to furnish a map of the area and <br />the Board proposes to work with the U. S. Department of Interior. <br />toward an overall plan. <br />On a Motion made by Commissioner Loy, seconded by Commissioner <br />Massey, it was unanimously carried that the Administrator be <br />authorized to advertise for bids for new engines for six trucks. <br />On a Motion made by Commissioner Loy, seconded by Commissioner <br />McCullers, the out of County travel of Gladys Vigliano, County <br />Welfare Caseworker to Orlando on April 2, 1970 to attend a Food <br />Stamps Program was unanimously approved. <br />APR 2 2 lq-70 J <br />
