- 10 - IG • 12. <br /> AMENDMENT TO INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT Q <br /> ESTABLISHING THETREASURE COAST WORKFORCE CONSORTIUM <br /> amY '� ' <br /> AND THE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BOARD OF THE TREASURE COAST <br /> This amendment to the agreement made and entered into by the Counties of Indian River, <br /> Martin , Okeechobee and St. Lucie , of the State of Florida, pursuant to the authority of Section <br /> 163 . 01 , Florida Statutes . <br /> WITNESSETH that : <br /> WHEREAS , Public Law 105 -220 , enacted by the Congress of the United States effective <br /> August 7 , 1998 , which act is known as the " Workforce Investment Act of 1998 " (hereinafter <br /> called the "WIA") , the purpose of which is to provide workforce investment activities, through <br /> statewide and local Workforce investment systems , that increase the employment, retention, and <br /> earnings of participants , and increase occupational skill attainment by participants , and as a <br /> result, improve the quality of the workforce , reduce welfare dependency , and enhance the <br /> productivity and competitiveness of the Nation ; and <br /> WHEREAS Section I of said Interlocal Agreement provides for the Establishment, <br /> Composition and Appointment of the Workforce Development Board in accordance with the <br /> requirements of Section 117 of the Title I of the WIA . <br /> WHEREAS the parties wish to amend section 8 of the Interlocal Agreement as it <br /> pertains to the tern of service for Workforce Board members . <br /> NOW. THEREFORE , the parties hereto agree as follows : Section 8 of the Interlocal <br /> Agreement is amended as follows : <br /> 1 . The fourth sentence of the second paragraph, which reads as follows : ' <br /> "Members may be reappointed for a successive term if the sponsoring organization <br /> agrees . " <br /> Is revised to read . <br /> "Members may be reappointed for successive terms if the sponsoring organization <br /> agrees .
