The Administrator reported that he had contacted Jay <br />A Smith, in regard to his appointment as Civil Defense Director <br />and that Mr. Smith has accepted the appointment. <br />On Motion of Commissioner Massey, second of Commissioner <br />McCullers, the Board unanimously voted that the Civil Defense <br />Direcbe°authorizod"to acquire surplus jeep ambulances, for the <br />cost of transporting them from.Georgia, according to County needs. <br />On Motion of Commissioner Massey, second of Commissioner <br />Dritenbas, it was unanimously carried that the Administrator notify <br />B. T. Cooksey, acting Director, of the appointment of the Civil <br />Defense Director; and that the Clerk write a letter to each of the <br />other applicants thanking them for their interest and informing`` <br />x <br />them of the Board's -a tme-�at; of -M Smi-i.th <br />y <br />Chairman Bogosian left the meeting and'Vice Chairman Loy <br />became acting Chairman. <br />Ralph Stewart, County Finance Office, read a letter from <br />Homer C. Fletcher, County Tax Assessor, regarding space on the <br />second floor of the Annex. The Deputy Clerk explained that the <br />F_ <br />plan gave the Tax Assessor more -space than he presently has. <br />�l <br />After due consideration of thelans <br />p presented for the second floor <br />� <br />k <br />of the Annex, Motion was made by Commissioner McCullers, second by <br />Commissioner Massey, and the Board unanimously voted that the <br />Committee be instructed to contract with John J. Schlitt, Jr., <br />mz <br />Architect, for finishing the plans of the second floor of the Annex;4 <br />4: <br />and that the plans are approved as presented and authorization is <br />given to advertise for bids for the construction. <br />On Motion of Commissioner McCullers, second of Commissioner <br />f� <br />Massey,. the Board unanimously authorized travel of Ruth Edenfield to <br />Melbourne to attend a Conference of the Social Security Administration <br />1� <br />regarding retirement and insurances. to be held on April 8. <br />On Motion of Commissioner Massey, second of Commissioner <br />McCullers, the applications for permits to carry firearms of <br />Clyde L.
