Keith Salter, Roadside Development Coordinator of <br />the State Department of Transportation, presented plans of <br />.planting of the median strips on,SR 60, and made suggestions <br />for the road at the Wabasso Bridge. on Motion of Commissioner; <br />Loy, second of Commissioner McCullers, theyunanimously authorized <br />the Administratorto advise the Department of Transportation <br />that the plans were approved as submitted. <br />The Board expressed no objections to a Coastal Construction <br />Permit to artificially nourish approximately 2400 feet of public <br />beach area with material dredged from the Sebastian Inlet. <br />Commissioner Dritenbas suggested that an -additional <br />twenty feet of right-of-way be acquired on the south side of the <br />school property at 12th Street and 16th Avenue, in otder to properly <br />install.culverts and holding lanes. Motion was made by Commissioner <br />Dritenbas, second by Commissioner Loy and unanimously carried that <br />the County would install culverts adjoining the School Board <br />Property and provide holding.lanes with the recommendation that <br />side walks and bicycle paths be included in the school plans. <br />The Administrator reported that studies had been made <br />in regard to.a traffic light at 34th Avenue and SR 60, as requested <br />by the School Board; and although the traffic did not meet the <br />criteria at that time, another study was to be made in the near <br />future. <br />Doctor Flood, Director of the Indian River County health <br />Department, -reported on the condition of three islands now owned <br />bytheTrustees of the Internal Improvement Fund. Doctor Flood <br />advised the Board that he was, awaiting a reply from Joel-K'416pelbarg <br />of the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Fund.
