Since the closing of <br />this bank the Sarasota bonds have been sold for $99-303.85 and the bank credited for the <br />amount; leaving due County from this bank $119;625.42. <br />The hake Worth bonds have not yet been sold. <br />About the time of the closing of the bank there was a list of notes hypothecated <br />by the bank to the Board of County Commissioners as additional security for funds held <br />on deposit as represented by a list of notes amounting to $1351-,164.87., Upon examinati <br />we find that these motes and mortgages have not, been endorsed or assigned to the County <br />by the bank and are now in the possession of the Receiver of this bank. The greater <br />part of these notes appear to be of li%tle value. However, a small portion of this <br />amount, we. are of the opinion, could be collected, These notes were all, with one <br />exception; past due at the time the list aforesaid was furnished the County and we are <br />of the opinion that their value does not exceed 10% of the total amount. <br />We find that, upon examination, going back three months prior to the closing of thi <br />e ° <br />bank that there -had been transferred to this bank by.John H. Atkin; then Chairman of the <br />Board, and Miles Marren, Clerk, $239500.00 in funds from other banks without any author -i' <br />ity shown from the minutes of the Board and'upon checks drawn other than the regular <br />County warrants, which checks are next herewith copied: <br />I <br />Vero Beach, Fla.
