SECTION 01170 SPECIAL PROVISIONS PART 1 — GENERAL 1 . 01 HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS PLAN A . Within 30 days of the date of Notice to Proceed , submit a Hurricane Preparedness Plan to the Owner for approval . The Plan shall describe in detail the necessary measures which the Contractor will perform , at: no additional costs to the Owner, in case of a hurricane warning . Revise Plan as required by the Owner . 1 . 02 WEATHER PROTECTION A . In the event of inclement weather, the Contractor shall protect the Work and materials from damage or injury from the weather . If, in the opinion of the Owner, any portion of the Work or materials has been damaged by reason of failure on the part of the Contractor to so protect the Work, such Work and materials shall be removed and replaced with new materials and Work to the satisfaction of the Owner. 1 . 03 PROVISIONS FOR CONTROL OF EROSION A . Sufficient precautions shall be taken during construction to minimize the run -off of polluting substances such as silt, clay, fuels , oils , bitumens , calcium chloride , or other polluting materials harmful to humans , fish , or other life, into the supplies and surface waters of the State . Control measures must be adequate to assure that turbidity in the receiving water will not be increased more than 10 nephelometric turbidity units (NTU) , or as otherwise required by the State or other controlling body, in water used for public water supply or fish unless limits have been established for the particular water. In surface water used for other purposes , the turbidity must not exceed 25 NTU unless otherwise permitted . Special precautions shall be taken in the use of construction equipment to prevent operations which promote erosion . 1 . 04 WARRANTIES A . The Contractor shall provide a minimum of one site visit per month by a trained personnel for a period of twelve months , (one year) , following completion and acceptance of the floating plant mats and plants, to assess growth rates and the condition of the mats . The floating plant mats shall have a minimum of 80 % coverage within 6 months and a plant survival rate of 80 % after one year. 1 . 05 PROVISIONS FOR THE CONTROL OF DUST AND LITTER A . Sufficient precautions shall be taken during installation to minimize the amount of dust created . Wetting down the site may be required or as directed by the Owner to prevent dust as a result of vehicular traffic . Control of blowing litter shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. 01170- 1
