ARTICLE 30 <br /> HOLIDAYS <br /> 30 . 1 It is the policy of the County to observe holidays each year on a schedule <br /> determined by the Board of County Commissioners . <br /> The holidays which shall be observed under this policy are : <br /> A . New Year' s Day <br /> Be Good Friday <br /> C . Memorial Day <br /> D . Independence Day <br /> E . Labor Day <br /> F . Veteran ' s Day <br /> G . Thanksgiving Day <br /> H . Day after Thanksgiving <br /> I . Day before Christmas <br /> J . Christmas Day <br /> K . Personal Day (to be scheduled and approved in accordance with <br /> department' s vacation policy) <br /> L . Any other holidays authorized by the Board of County Commissioners <br /> 30 . 2 Regular employees will receive holiday pay whether or not they are scheduled to <br /> work on the holiday . Regular employees not normally scheduled to work on the <br /> day of the week the holiday is being observed will receive an average day's wage <br /> as holiday pay . An average day' s wage is defined as an employee's scheduled <br /> bi-weekly pay divided by ten days . Employees normally scheduled to work on <br /> the day of the week the holiday is being observed shall receive holiday pay for <br /> the number of hours they are normally scheduled to work , even if that is more or <br /> less than an average day' s wage . Employees who are scheduled to work <br /> Saturday , July 4 , 2015 ( Independence Day) , shall have the option to have this <br /> date considered their observed holiday in lieu of the County ' s observed <br /> Independence Day holiday . Employees who select the actual holiday shall not <br /> be entitled to additional holiday pay or time and one- half for hours worked on the <br /> County' s observed holiday . <br /> 30 . 3 Temporary employees , part-time employees hired on or after 6/22/01 , <br /> employees on unpaid leave of absence , and employees on layoff are not eligible <br /> for holiday pay . <br /> 30 . 4 To receive holiday pay , an employee must be in an " active pay status" on the <br /> scheduled work days immediately preceding and immediately following the day <br /> on which the holiday is observed . <br /> 30 . 5 For pay purposes , holidays will be the County recognized day of the holiday . <br /> 44 <br />
