West
Gifford area, Ms. Kathleen Jaskolski, requested that an air quality study be undertaken of
the current airborne contaminants in the West Gifford, Gifford community. Ms. Jaskolski's
concerns focused on potential contaminants from current industrial sources in or near the
area such as concrete batch and asphalt plants Ms. Jaskolski further requested that the
study were to also consider if another source of potential contaminants were added to the
area (e.g., additional concrete batch plant in the West Gifford area), what cumulative effect
the additional source would have on air quality.
By this letter, I am asking the State Health Department, if such a study is feasible under the
resources available to the Health Department and if so, what steps does the county need to
undertake to enable the study to take place?
Looking forward to working with you on this endeavor.
gards,
Peter O'Bryan, Chairm
Indian River County Board of County Commissioners
cc: Board of County Commissioners
County Administrator
County Attorney
Stan Boling
Kathleen Jaskolski
1801 27`" Street, Building A
Vero Beach, FL 32960
(772) 226-1490
