F"" 67 �?_ <br />THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17th 1929. <br />The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River county, Florida, met at <br />the Court House in Vero Beach, at 10 o'clock A.It.Thursday, uctober 17th 1929, with the <br />following members of the Board present. Albert U. Helseth, chairman, J.D.Yongue, <br />J.Vd laBruee; a.,,T.P.Hamilton and John H. Atkin. .Also present were Miles Warren, Clerk <br />and Clark S. Ricep Sheriff, <br />The Notary Public bond of Ralph Sedgwick in the sum of -V500.00 with American <br />Surety Company, a corporation of New Yo rk as surety was approved. <br />r The Bills and accounts accrued against the .Road & Bridge fund for labor and mater- <br />ial, having been audited, were examined and found correct warrants were ordered issued <br />in settlement of same. The Varrants so issued being listed in the County Finance <br />Record as provided by law, and reference to said County finance record is made a part <br />of these minutes as fmlly and completely as if the said warrants were set out herein im <br />detail. <br />It was moved, seconded and carried that application be made to the Building and <br />Zoning Commission of the city of Vero South for permission and approval to erect a jai] <br />on the property acquired from J.M.hnight and associates. <br />waldo-E. Sexton appeared before the Board and requested the County to construct <br />a bridge over the canal at North end of Royal .dark Subdivision to the City, the bridge <br />having been washed away by the high waters recently. <br />It was moved, seconded and Carried that Commissioner Atkin arrange for the City tc <br />pay one half of the cost and the County to pay one half of some, and if this arrange- <br />ments can be made to instruct the County Engineer to construct the bridge. <br />It was moved, seconded and carried that L.B.Simmons be placed on the pauper list t <br />receive the sum of $25.00 per month until further orders, and he be sent to the Mag- <br />nolia Home, Lockhart, Florida, for attention and care. <br />'Sheriff Clark S. Rice appeared before the Board and requested §140.00 .to cover <br />expenses locating and bringing back for trial one Ocie. Lumley, charged with murder, <br />It was moved by Commissioner Yongue that sufficient money be appropriated for the <br />i.eriff to locate and bring back to justice Ocie Lumley. This motion was withdrawn. <br />It was moved by Commissioner Yongue that the Board's attorney look into the ques- <br />tion of authority to appropriate funds for purposes mentioned above and advise the <br />Board at its regular meeting in November. <br />It was moved, seconded and carried that Sheriff's criminal costs bills as submitte <br />be referred to the Counter attorney for approval. It was further ordered all criminal <br />cost bills of all officers be referred to the County Attorney five days before the <br />Board meets for his approval, <br />it was moved, seconded and carried that the Board meet on the first and third <br />Tuesdays of each month. <br />The Tax Assessor having completed the tax roll for the year 1929, and having the <br />same now before the County Commissionera, in regular session, together with two copies <br />thereof, as provided by law, and the same having been examined and approved by the <br />Board the following warrant was annexed to said tax roll, to -.wit:- <br />1 THE STATE OF FLORIDA. <br />y <br />To G.
