In <br />4/17/86(0-4)Leg.Jm <br />ORDINANCE NO. 86- 35 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, AMENDING <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY CODE OF LAWS -AND ORDINANCES CHAPTER <br />4-33, SECTION 902.3, REPEALING SECTION 902.3, STANDPIPES <br />REQUIRED; CREATING SECTION 902.3 STANDPIPES; PROVIDING <br />FOR PENALTIES; INCORPORATION IN CODE; SEVERABILITY; <br />AND EFFECTIVE DATE, <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, THROUGH <br />ITS BOARD "OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS that: <br />SECTION 1. <br />Indian River County Code of Laws and Ordinances Chapter <br />4 -33, -Section 902.3, which presently reads as follows: <br />Standpipes required. Section 902.3, paragraph (1) is <br />amended for use in Indian River County as follows: "Buildings <br />exceeding one story and fifty.(50) feet in.height' is changed to <br />"buildings exceeding three (3) stories or more." The purpose of <br />this change is to require installation of fire -fighting equipment <br />on each floor within reach of the most remote area of the building <br />in accordance with N.F.P.A. (14-1968 Edition.) (Ord. No. 8-74-11, <br />§15, 5-27-74; Ord. No. 77-10, §15, 6-22-77; Ord. No. 80-17, §15, <br />4-28-80) <br />is hereby repealed. <br />SECTION 2. <br />Chapter 4-33, Section 902.3 is hereby amended to read as <br />f ollows: <br />Section <br />902 of the <br />Standard Building Code <br />is amended to <br />as follows: <br />by imprisonment <br />in the County <br />Jail not to <br />read <br />(a) Section 902 shall apply only.to buildings to be <br />constructed with a height of 3 or more stories. <br />(b) Buildings constructed for residential purposes only <br />shall not be required to have standpipe systems with a greater <br />minimum than 30 pounds residual pressure on the roof outlet <br />supplying a 200 gallon -per minute nozzle. <br />(c) All requirements of Section 902, except to the <br />extent modified by paragraphs (a) and (b) of this section, shall <br />apply. <br />SECTION 3. <br />Any person found guilty of violating any of the provi6. <br />- <br />sions of this ordinance shall be subject to punishment by a fine <br />exceed 60 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. <br />not to exceed $500.00 or <br />by imprisonment <br />in the County <br />Jail not to <br />exceed 60 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. <br />
