This report covers the period of July 1, 1971
through June 30, 1972.
We experienced more favorable weather conditions than was predicted by
the Weather Bureau. Consequently, our fire occurrence was down considerably
from last year.
The Division of Forestry took action on 51 wildfires involving 383 acres.
We responded,to 18 miscellaneous fires. This category includes vehicles,
house trailers, buildings, and other improvements. There were also 22 con-
fined and controlled firesinvolving 9,678 acres. The Division expended
$47,922 in Indian River County during the period.of this report.
We feel another factor in lowering the number of wildfires is the re-.
cently passed air and.water pollution regulations.
Respectfully,
-,4/
Van Murphy
District Forester
cc: Chief, Fire Control
 1.5 v,A35
RUE 2 3 'M72
