ORDINANCE NO. 87- <br />(e) Corner lot numbering. The assignment of numbers for <br />buildings on corner lots shall be determined accord- <br />ing to which public or private right-of-way the <br />building faces, as determined by the Community <br />Development Director. <br />Sec. 18-61. Posting of numbers on buildings. <br />All buildings shall have the assigned building number <br />displayed in a manner such that the number is visible from the <br />public or private road on which the building fronts, whether or <br />not mail is delivered to the building. A certificate of <br />occupancy will not be issued for a new building or structure <br />until the building number has been displayed, in accordance <br />with the following criteria: <br />(a) The number must be in Arabic numerals; approval will <br />not be given for numbers which are difficult to read. <br />(b) The numbering must be of a weather -resistant material <br />and securely affixed. <br />(c) The numerals shall not be less than three inches (3") <br />in height and shall be a color contrasting with the <br />immediate background material. <br />(d) A property owner or his agent shall have the respon- <br />sibility of contacting the Indian River County <br />Community Development Department to determine the <br />correct building number or numbers to be assigned to <br />all buildings located or constructed on his property <br />in the unincorporated area of Indian River County <br />after the effective date of this ordinance. The <br />owner or his agent shall post the building number in <br />accordance with this ordinance. <br />
