SECTION 202.20 MINIMUM SEPARATION BETWEEN PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />(1) Sanitary Sewer Mains <br />A maximum obtainable separation of public access reclaimed water <br />mains and sanitary sewer mains shall be maintained. A minimum <br />horizontal separation of 5 feet (center to center) or 3 feet <br />(outside to outside) shall be maintained between reclaimed water <br />mains and sewage mains. Where reclaimed water and sanitary sewer <br />mains cross with less than 18 inches vertical clearance, the <br />sanitary sewage main shall be 20 feet of either ductile iron pipe, <br />concrete encased vitrified clay pipe, concrete encased PVC pipe, or <br />encased in a watertight carrier pipe, centered on the point of <br />crossing. <br />(2) Potable Water Mains <br />A maximum obtainable separation of Public Access reclaimed water <br />mains and Potable water mains shall be maintained. A minimum <br />horizontal separation of 5 feet (center to center) or• 3 feet <br />(outside to outside) shall be maintained between reclaimed water <br />mains and potable water mains. Where reclaimed water and sanitary <br />sewer mains cross with less than 18 inches vertical clearance, the <br />sanitary sewage main shall be 20 feet of either ductile iron pipe, <br />concrete encased vitrified clay pipe, concrete encased PVC pipe, or <br />encased in a watertight carrier pipe, centered on the point of <br />crossing. <br />(3) A 75 foot setback distance shall be provided from public access <br />reclaimed transmission facility/transmission mains to any public <br />potable water supply well. <br />SECTION 202.21 DUAL SOURCE IRRIGATION SYSTEMS <br />(1) Reclaimed water service may be provided to sites where a secondary <br />source of irrigation water is necessary, however, prior to <br />connection to the reclaimed water system, a dual connection control <br />device shall be installed in accordance with Indian River County <br />Utility Department Standards and criteria. <br />(2) Where other surface water or groundwater sources are used to <br />supplement the reclaimed water system, an air gap separation or a <br />reduced -pressure principle backflow prevention assembly shall be <br />provided at the well to.protect the aquifer and at the surface water <br />source to protect the surface water. <br />SECTION 202.22 MAINTENANCE BY CUSTOMER <br />The property owner and or customer shall be responsible for the <br />maintenance of all plumbing facilities, including irrigation lines and <br />appurtenances, on the property served by the county. The county reserves <br />the right to disconnect the service to any property that does not <br />adequately maintain the private portion of the system. <br />SECTION 202.23 SYSTEM PRESSURES <br />The county does not provide reclaimed water at pressures which are <br />adequate to operate all standard irrigation systems and devices. Should <br />the customer require reclaimed water at different pressures or different <br />quality, or in any way different from that normally supplied by the <br />county,. the customer shall be responsible for the necessary devices to <br />make these adjustments subject to approval by the Utility Services <br />Department. <br />SECTION 202.24 SERVICE NOT GUARANTEED <br />The source of the reclaimed water is the Indian River County Regional <br />Wastewater Treatment System which can produce a finite quantity of <br />reclaimed water. While the demand for reclaimed water will be monitored, <br />the county does not guarantee delivery of service. The county reserves <br />the right to temporarily discontinue service to any portion of, or the <br />entire, reclaimed water system, as deemed necessary by the Utility <br />Services Department. <br />
