5 /4 /R3docs<Ob <br />ORDINANCE 93=1 6 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA PROVIDING FOR AN ALTERNATE FOR <br />EX OFFICIO MEMBERS OF COMMISSIONS AND <br />BOARDS. <br />WHEREAS, a number of commissions and boards have ex officio <br />members; and <br />WHEREAS, it is important that these commissions and boards <br />have the benefit of the views of the organization represented by the <br />ex officio member, and <br />WHEREAS, the named ex officio member may from time to time be <br />absent and representation by an alternate would fill the void created <br />by the absence, <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, <br />that: <br />SECTION 1. NEW SECTION. <br />A new section 103.04.1 is added to Chapter 103 of the Indian <br />River County Code as follows. <br />Section 103.04.1 Ex Officio Members of Commissions and Boards. <br />Whenever a commission or board has an ex officio member, the <br />named representative when absent may be represented by another <br />representative of that member's organization. The purpose of ex <br />officio membership is to allow the commission or board to have the <br />benefit of the views of the organization represented by the ex officio <br />SECTION 2. SEVERABILITY. <br />If any section, sentence, paragraph, phrase, or word of this <br />ordinance is for any reason held to be unconstitutional, inoperative, <br />or void, such holding shall not affect the remaining portions of this <br />ordinance, and it shall be construed to have been the legislative <br />intent to pass the ordinance without such unconstitutional, invalid, or <br />inoperative part. <br />SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />This ordinance shall become effective on becoming law. <br />a <br />
