Purpose <br />10 <br />11 The purpose of the Children's Services Advisory Committee is to promote healthy children in a <br />12 healthy community. The term "healthy" encompasses socioeconomic, physical, environmental, <br />13 educational and behavioral health. <br />14 <br />15 Section 103.21 Objective <br />16 <br />17 (1) The objective of the Children's Services Advisory Committee is to provide a unified <br />18 system of planning and delivery within which children's needs can be identified, targeted, <br />19 evaluated and addressed by the Children's Services Advisory Committee. <br />20 <br />21 (2) Definition of Child. Any person who has not attained the age of eighteen (18) years, also <br />22 minor. <br />23 <br />24 (3) This objective will be met by the Children's Services Advisory Committee through the <br />25 powers and functions of the Board of County Commissioners as follows: <br />26 <br />27 a) Recommended to provide and maintain in the county services for children as the <br />28 Children's Services Advisory Committee determines are needed for the general well <br />29 being of the county. <br />30 <br />31 b) Collect information and statistical data and conduct research helpful to the Children's <br />32 Services Advisory Committee and the County in deciding the needs of children in the <br />33 County. <br />34 <br />35 c) Consult, collaborate, and coordinate with other agencies dedicated to the well being of <br />36 children to the end that duplication of services will be prevented. <br />37 <br />38 d) Recommend the allocation of funds to agencies that provide services for the benefit of <br />39 children in Indian River County. <br />40 <br />41 e) Recommend standards for measurable outcomes within the Request for Proposal and <br />42 monitor the agencies for actual performance on agreed upon standards. <br />43 <br />44 f) Recommend to employ, pay and provide benefits for any part-time or full-time <br />45 position needed to execute the foregoing powers and functions. <br />Revised: 1/28/99 <br />
