THE ADMINISTRATOR REQUESTED AUTHORIZATION TO <br />INSTALL FLASHER SIGNALS AND RUMBLE STRIPS AT EACH OF THE FOLLMING <br />INTERSECTIONS: <br />43RD AVENUE AT 16TH ST., 12TH ST., 8TH ST., AND 4TH ST. <br />ALSO 27TH AVENUE AT 12TH ST., 8TH ST., AND 4TH ST.' <br />THE ADMINISTRATOR STATED THIS WOULD BE AN ON-GOING <br />PROJECT AND THE WORK WOULD BE DONE BY COUNTY ROAD AND BRIDGE FORCES. <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER DRITENBAS, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />MASSEY, THE BOARD AUTHORIZED THE ADMINISTRATOR TO PROCEED WITH THE <br />SAFETY MEASURES STATED ABOVE. <br />RESOLUTION N0. 72-71, SHOWN IN THE MINUTES OF NOVEMBER <br />8, 1972, HONORING MERRILL P. BARBER WAS PRESENTED TO HIM BY THE <br />CHAIRMAN ALONG WITH THE BOARD'S THANKS AND APPRECIATION FOR HIS 4 <br />DEDICATION AND SERVICE TO INDIAN RIVER COUNTY. <br />DAVE GROTEFEND, CHIEF WALLACE S. GOSSETT AND DAN KIRKPATRICK, <br />REPRESENTING THE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL APPEARED'REQUESTING <br />THE BOARDS CONSIDERATION TO USE THE WINTER BEACH SCHOOL -HOUSE <br />FOR THE HEAD START PROGRAM. MR. GROTEFEND WAS INFORMED THAT THIS <br />BUILDING IS NOW BEING USED BY THE WINTER BEACH CIVIC ASSOCIATION. <br />THE ATTORNEY SUGGESTED A MEETING WITH THE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY <br />COUNCIL, WINTER BEACH CIVIC ASSOCIATI0N,AND A MEMBER OF THIS BOARD <br />.PRESENT TO WORK OUT AN ARRANGEMENT SUITABLE TO ALL CONCERNED. <br />COMMISSIONER SIEBERT VOLUNTEERED TO WORK WITH THIS GROUP. <br />THE BOARD THEN ADJOURNED AT 12:00 NOON AND RECONVENED <br />AT 1:30 O'CLOCK P.M., <br />THE ADMINISTRATOR INFORMED THE BOARD THAT IN A LETTER <br />FROM .JOHN WILSON, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, IT WAS STATED THAT <br />ON A NATIONAL BASIS THE MINIMUM SPEED LIMIT WAS SET AT 30 MILES <br />PER HOUR. THE ADMINISTRATOR SUGGESTED WE MAKE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />SPEED REGULATIONS A MINIMUM OF 30 MILES PER HOUR TO CONFORM WITH THE <br />NATIONAL POLICY. <br />THE BOARD WAS IN AGREEMENT AND INSTRUCTED THE ATTORNEY <br />TO PREPARE A RESOLUTION AND PRESENT IT AT THE NEXT MEETING. <br />THE ADMINISTRATOR NOTIFIED GOVERNMENTAL BODIES IN ORDER <br />TO DISPOSE OF A MIMEOGRAPH MACHINE AND STATES THERE HAS BEEN NO <br />INTEREST SHOWN.
