i • 1/25/95 fiord\athics2_doc�Owlc <br />ORDINANCE 95=02 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, AMENDING THE CODE OF ETHICS AND <br />CONDUCT SECTION 104.06 OF THE INDIAN RIVER <br />COUNTY CODE. <br />WHEREAS, The Board of County Commissioners at its regular <br />meeting of July 19, 1994 adopted a new code of ethics for employees and <br />commissioners; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board at time of adoption said it would revisit the <br />code after experience had been gained as to its effectiveness; and <br />WHEREAS, experience has shown that certain conduct should not <br />be prohibited, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, that. <br />SECTION 1. AMENDMENT. <br />Section 104.06 of the Indian River County Code is amended by the <br />addition of the following subparagraphs. <br />b) The prohibitions enumerated in paragraph a) and c) of this <br />section do not apply in the situations enumerated below. <br />x x x x x <br />7) Awards of nominal value, plaques and dinners given by <br />a civic or business organization to honor individual or groups for <br />meritorious service, acts of heroism, and similar conduct. <br />8) Local outings offered to all county employees or with <br />prior approval of the Board of County Commissioners, units of county <br />employees . <br />9) Acceptance of invitations given by organizations as a <br />ceremonial gesture with prior approval of the Board of County <br />Commissioners needed for events outside the county. <br />10) Discounts and other inducements offered by various <br />theme parks and other entertainment interests for all county or state <br />employees . <br />11) Free flu shots offered to all county employees. <br />SECTION 2. SEVERABILITY. <br />If any section, or any sentence, paragraph, phrase, or word of <br />this ordinance is for any reason held to be unconstitutional, <br />inoperative, or void, such holding shall not affect the remaining <br />
