I <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS there exists traffic congestion which is choking the <br />much needed travel between the Mainland and Vero's Beach caused by <br />lack of rapid transportation over the Indian River and <br />WHEREAS the delay caused by traffic congestion attempting to <br />cross the Barber Bridge has imperiled the safety of citizens and <br />visitors on both sides of the Indian River, and <br />WHEREAS the County Commission- as an Agency of the State of <br />Florida mush select a corridor and through its powers obtain necessary <br />Rights of Way and Funding for this State Road and bridge, and <br />WHEREAS further debate by this Council would only delay or <br />defeat the necessary State and Federal approval, and <br />WHEREAS the City Council has determined that they will accept <br />any site for a bridge that the County Commission of Indian River County <br />selects in their considered judgment based on all the information <br />available; <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City <br />Of Vero Beach that this council urges the County Commissioners of <br />Indian River County to secure a bridge within the earliest possible time <br />and that this Council supports the decision which will guarantee a <br />Bridge as soon as is possible; <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of <br />Vero Beach earnestly petitions the County Commissioners to act with <br />all deliberate speed in selecting the site and ensuring rapid completion <br />of this bridge: <br />-BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be <br />immediately forwarded to the County Commission of Indian River County <br />and the District Engineer of the Department of Transportation. <br />I HEREBY CERTIFY -that the above is a true and exact copy <br />of Resolution No. 2429 adopted at the City Council meeting <br />of April 3, 1973, Vero Beach, Florida. <br />G_,_ <br />t. <br />(seal) -7- CITY C <br />toot f% <br />
