tf� 1/3/95(ord\aheriPf)V3c ORDINANCE NO. 95- 01 AN ORDINANCE OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, DESIGNATING THE SHERIFF AS CHIEF CORRECTIONAL OFFICER. WHEREAS, by Section 951.061, Florida Statutes, the Sheriff may be designated as the Chief Correctional Officer of the County correctional system by ordinance of the County Commission; and WHEREAS, the Sheriff of Indian River County has historically operated the jail system except for a brief period in the 1980s when the Board of County Commissioners undertook that function; and WHEREAS, the County Commission believes that this function would best be performed by the Sheriff's Office, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: SECTION 1. DESIGNATION OF SHERIFF The constitutional office of Sheriff is designated as the Chief Correctional Officer of the County correctional system in Indian River County. SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE This ordinance shall become effective on becoming law. Approved and adopted by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, on this 24 day of January 1995 . This ordinance was advertised in the Vero Beach Press Journal on the 6 day of January , 1995, for a public hearing to be held on the 24 day of January., 1995, at which time it was moved for adoption by Commissioner Eggert and the motion was seconded by Commissioner Bird , and, upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: Chairman Kenneth R.
