AREA #1: PHYSICAL BARRIERS TO ACCESS <br />The Board of County Commissioners, during their September 15, 1992 <br />meeting, approved a transition plan which identifies_ structural changes <br />needed to existing county -owned facilities to achieve accessibility for the <br />disabled. All of the structural changes identified in this plan will be <br />completed no later than January 26, 1995. The accessibility of all <br />county -owned facilities as well as county -sponsored programs will continue <br />to be monitored and addressed on a case by case basis. <br />AREA #2: LIMITING PARTICIPATION <br />The county will not exclude any individual from any of its programs, <br />activities, or services unless the inclusion results in a fundamental <br />alteration of the nature of the program, activity, or service or if the <br />inclusion results in an undue financial or administrative burden (see AREA <br />#8). The county will, of course, adhere to locally, state, and federally <br />mandated physical requirements for certain positions, thus possibly <br />excluding certain disabled individuals from certain types of employment. <br />AREA #3: COMMUNICATION <br />The county will furnish appropriate auxiliary aids and services to disabled <br />individuals when requested for public meetings, programs, and services so <br />those individuals can participate in and eniov the benefits of all countv <br />services. Auxiliary aids include, but are not Ii <br />interpreters, note takers, written materials, ass <br />telecommunication devices for the deaf (TDDs), rea <br />recordings, Braille materials, large print materials, <br />The county will also purchase an appropriate num <br />them in county -owned facilities that have extensive <br />Those facilities might include the County <br />Courthouse, Health Department, Main and North C4 <br />Recreation Department.
