In <br />(F). Notwithstanding any section to the contrary, the director of <br />emergency services or his designee is authorized to take any action <br />necessary to carry out the provisions of Florida Administrative Code <br />Chapter 64D-3.013(2) as may be amended from time to time See teen—IG9 <br />*094:(2) FAG if the state agency primarily responsible for that activity <br />is not carrying out the requirements of said section. <br />(H) No animal that is quarantined may be redeemed until the end of the <br />quarantine_ period; provided, however, that the owner of the animal has <br />the ability at any time during the pendency of the quarantine period to <br />surrender permanent control of the animal to the animal control division, <br />as set forth herein, by executing an unconditional release and surrender <br />statement, and payment of all accrued fees, fines, and penalties. An <br />animal that has been surrendered to the animal control division <br />immediately becomes the property of the county, and the animal control <br />division may place the animal for adoption or otherwise make disposition <br />of the animal in accordance with this chapter. <br />(I) Bite by a police or service dog; exemption from quarantine. Any <br />dog that is owned, or the service of which is employed, by a law <br />enforcement agency, or any dog that is used as a service animal, and that <br />bites another animal or human, is exempt from any quarantine requirement <br />following such bite if the dog has a current rabies vaccination that was <br />administered by a licensed veterinarian. After an investigation into the circumstances, the animal control <br />division is authorized to _impose reasonable restrictions on any dog <br />determined to be involved in any biting or attack incident that does not <br />result in severe inJury or death. <br />(B) The imposition of reasonable restrictions on any dog pursuant to <br />this section does not prohibit such dog from subsequently being <br />classified as a dangerous dog in accordance with the provisions of this <br />chapter.
