ORD(LEGAL)WGC/nhm ORDINANCE NO. 2002= 007 AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, AMENDING INDIAN RIVER COUNTY CODE CHAPTER 401, BUILDING CODES, TO ADOPT THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Florida legislature has enacted the "Florida Building Codes Act" with the intention to provide a mechanism for uniform adoption, updating, amendment, interpretation, and enforcement of a single, unified statewide building code, to be called the Florida Building Code, which consists of a single set of documents that apply to the design, construction, erection, alteration, modification, repair, or demolition of public or private buildings, structures, or facilities in this state and to the enforcement of such requirements and which will allow the effective and reasonable protection for public safety, health, and general welfare for all the people of Florida at the most reasonable cost to the consumer; and WHEREAS, the Florida Building Code shall be applied, administered, and enforced uniformly and consistently from jurisdiction to jurisdiction; and WHEREAS, the Florida legislature has directed the Florida Building Commission to adopt by rule, the Florida Building Code; and WHEREAS, Chapter 401 of the Code of Indian River County currently adopts codes other than the Florida Building Code which pursuant to state law must be repealed or amended, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that SECTION 1. AMENDMENT. Chapter 401.
