ORDINANCE NO. 2005- 023 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />AMENDING INDIAN RIVER COUNTY CODE SECTION <br />103.03.1. "PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION" TO <br />P ROVIDE EACH COMMISSIONER WITH THE ABILITY TO <br />APPOINT ONE MEMBER AND REQUIRING THAT <br />MEMBER TO RESIDE IN THE SAME DISTRICT AS THE <br />COMMISSIONER; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; <br />P ROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the Indian River County Planning and Zoning Commission was <br />established by Section 103.03, Indian River County Code; and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission consists of 7 voting members <br />and one non-voting member designated by the School Board; and <br />WHEREAS, each County Commissioner has had the pleasure of appointing one <br />voting member to the Planning and Zoning Commission, and two members are chosen <br />by the Board from the public at large; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 902.05, Indian River County Code, sets forth the role of the <br />Planning and Zoning Commission and given the important role bestowed upon the <br />Commission, it is vital for each district to have representation on the Commission; <br />WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission is designated as the local <br />planning agency for the County, and as such, it would be most fair to have each district <br />in the County represented on the Commission to insure that each district has a voice <br />and a vote in planning and zoning decisions that affect their district and <br />N OW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: <br />S ECTION 1. AMENDMENT. <br />S ection 103.03.1. of the Indian River County Code is hereby amended to read as <br />follows: <br />Section 103.03. Regulatory commissions and boards. <br />1. Planning and zoning commission.
