ORDINANCE 2007- 012 <br />(d) All landscaping shall be installed and maintained in a manner which provides <br />unobstructed visibility within the sight distance area calculated hereunder, at a <br />level between two and one-half (2 1/2) feet and ten (10) feet above grade; <br />provided, however, trees or palms having limbs or foliage trimmed in such a <br />manner that no limbs or foliage extend into the visibility area shall be allowed, <br />provided they are so located as not to create a traffic hazard. Other landscaping, <br />except required grass or ground cover, shall not be located closer than three (3) <br />six 6 feet from the edge of any access way pavement, unless otherwise approved <br />by the public works director or his designee. <br />(e) Left -turn crossings. Sight distance for left -turn crossings shall be measured in the <br />same manner as provided for crossing maneuvers. On median -separated <br />roadways, sight distance to the left may be based upon the sight distance required <br />for a two-lane road. <br />(6) Landscaping near overhead electrical transmission or distribution lines. <br />(a) When canopy trees are proposed to be planted within thirty (30) feet (horizontal <br />distance) of overhead electrical transmission or distribution lines (not service <br />lines), the following shall apply: <br />A cross-section shall be provided on the landscape plan, depicting the <br />estimated canopy shape and size at maturity in relation to the location of <br />the lowest electrical overhead transmission or distribution wire, and the <br />distance from the mature tree canopy edge to the wire. <br />2. The distance from the estimated mature tree canopy edge to the wire shall <br />be at least ten (10) feet. <br />(b) Within a horizontal distance of thirty (30) feet of an overhead electrical <br />transmission or distribution line (not a service line), in addition to generally <br />prohibited exotic nuisance species, the following plant species are prohibited from <br />being used on any landscaping plan proposed for county approval: Earleaf Acacia, <br />Woman's Tongue Tree, Norfolk Island Pine, Bischofia, Schefflera, Ear Tree, <br />Eucalyptus, Non -Native Ficus, Silk Oak, Chinese Tallow Tree, and Java Plum. <br />(7) Landscaping near utility poles, guy wires, and transformer pads.
