ORDINANCE NO. 2001=003 <br />or business. Street address numbers and lettering, and flyers or posters related <br />to not for profit events and organizations, shall not count as window signage. <br />"Open," "closed," hours of operations and identification window signage <br />totaling up to four (4) square feet shall not count as window signage. <br />(10) Nonconforming signs: It is the intent of these regulations to allow <br />nonconforming signs to continue until they are no longer used or become <br />hazardous, and to encourage conformance to these special sign regulations. <br />A "compatible freestanding sign" shall be defined as any freestanding sign <br />permitted prior to the adoption of these special regulations, and conforming <br />to the North Barrier Island Corridor Plan maximum height requirements for <br />a freestanding sign, and monument style for a freestanding sign. <br />ii. Except as otherwise provided herein, there may be a change <br />of tenancy or ownership of a nonconforming sign, without the <br />loss of nonconforming status, if the site is not abandoned for <br />twelve (12) or more consecutive months and if there is no <br />change of use of the site. Also, change of tenancy or <br />ownership shall not affect the status of a non -conforming sign <br />that serves multiple tenants. <br />iii.
