{ <br />MR. JENNINGS WAS ASKED TO OUTLINE THE DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATIONS PLANS FOR IMPROVING AIA. <br />MR. JENNINGS STATED THAT STATE ROAD AIA IS A <br />PRIMARY ROAD IN THIS COUNTY AND IS ON THE D.O.T. LIST FOR <br />IMPROVEMENT. THE BOARD IS NOT AUTHORIZED TO DEMAND THAT AIA <br />BE IMPROVED; WE CAN ONLY REQUEST THAT IT BE DONE. <br />CHAIRMAN LOY ASKED MR. PADGETT IF HE WOULD CONSIDER <br />CHANGING THE DENSITY TO S UNITS ON THE WEST AND RIVER SIDE AND <br />12 UNITS ON THE EAST AND OCEAN SIDE AND AN OVERALL DENSITY OF <br />B UNITS PER ACRE. <br />MR. PADGETT AGREED TO THIS. <br />THERE WERE NO FURTHER QUESTIONS AND A MOTION WAS MADE BY <br />COMMISSIONER MASSEY TO APPROVE THE REQUEST FOR REZONING AS ADVERTISED <br />WITH ONE EXCEPTION: THE NORTHERN BOUNDARY OF THIS PROPERTY FROM <br />THE OCEAN TO THE RIVER REMAIN IN R -IA, SINGLE FAMILY ZONING, AND <br />THE OVERALL DENSITY OF THE PROJECT BE SET ATS UNITS PER ACRE."' <br />THIS MOTION DIED FOR LACK OF A SECOND. <br />A MOTION WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER SIEBERT,SECONDED BY COM- <br />MISSIONER DRITENBAS, THAT THE VEROMAR SHORES PROJECT APPLICATION FOR <br />REZONING, AS REQUESTED BY EARL PADGETT AND GERMAN SUAREZ BE DENIED, <br />COMMISSIONER SIEBERT STATED THAT HIS REASONS FOR THE <br />DENIAL OF THIS APPLICATION IS THAT THIS WOULD BE THE INITIAL STEP <br />i <br />FOR MULTI -FAMILY ZONING IN THIS AREA AND HE FEELS THAT THE SOUTH <br />BEACH AREA SHOULD REMAIN IN SINGLE FAMILY ZONING; SERVICES HAVE <br />NOT KEPT UP WITH THE GROWTH; AND HE ALSO MENTIONED THE SPIRALING <br />INFLATION IN LAND VALUES, <br />COMMISSIONER DRITENBAS STATED THAT HIS REASONS FOR <br />DENYING THIS REZONING ARE: THE DIRE NEED OF ANOTHER BRIDGE ACROSS <br />THE INDIAN RIVER TO SERVE THIS AREA; THE NEED FOR IMPROVING A1A. <br />WITH NO INDICATION WHEN"THIS WILL BE COMPLETED; THE IMPACT THAT <br />THIS DEVELOPMENT WILL BRING ONTO THOSE TWO MEANS OF GETTING TO <br />TIfiIS AREA; THE STRONG OPPOSITION BY RESIDENTS LIVING IN THIS <br />IMMEDIATE VICINITY. <br />COMMISSIONER BOGOSIAN STATED AS HIS REASONS FOR <br />DENYING THIS REZONING THAT HE DID NOT FEEL THIS DEVELOPMENT <br />WAS THE HIGHEST AND BEST USE OF THIS PIECE OF LAND; SERVICES <br />SUCH AS, HOSPITALS AND ROADS AND BRIDGES ARE NOT ADEQUATE AT <br />THIS TIME, AND WE HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL BECOME ADEQUATE. <br />-1B® <br />SEP 191973 BOOK �. �kGt <br />
