RESOLUTION No. 74-1 <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian <br />River County, Florida, have held a meeting with the wholesalers and <br />retailers of motor fuels in Indian River County, and <br />WHEREAS, said Board has examined Indian River County's <br />motor fuel allocation as established under the Emergency Petroleum Alloca- <br />tion Act of 1973, and <br />WHEREAS, said Board is of the opinion that the statistical <br />data used to establish Indian River County's motor fuel allocation was <br />outdated and erroneous, and <br />WHEREAS, the amount of motor fuel allocated for Indian River <br />County is grossly insufficient and the shortage of motor fuel in Indian River <br />County has precipitated an economic crisis in that the economic life of the <br />three major industries of the county, agriculture, Piper Aircraft and tourism <br />depends on sufficient quantities of motor fuel, and <br />WHEREAS, local petitions for adjustment or assignment on <br />Form FEO-17 have been completely ignored by the Region 4 Atlanta office, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, <br />1. That Indian River County be considered for additional alloca- <br />tions of motor fuel on an emergency priority basis to avoid an economic crisis. <br />2. That the Federal Energy Office consider and utilize the <br />following information in establishing motor fuel allocations for Indian River <br />County: <br />a. Indian River County is undergoing a rapid increase <br />in population having gained 8, 386 people since the 1970 census. <br />b. Building construction has increased over 50016 since <br />1970. <br />than in 1972. <br />c.
