Comprehensive Plan Public School Facilities Element <br />GOALS, <br />:TIVES, <br />'OLICIE <br />PUBLIC SCHOOL FACILITIES ELEMENT GOAL <br />Indian River County shall have a public school system that offers a high quality <br />educational environment, provides accessibility for all of its students, and ensures <br />adequate school capacity to accommodate enrollment demand. <br />OBJECTIVE 1: ADEQUATE SCHOOL FACILITIES <br />By8I9Throu hout the plann.ing_period (2008 — 2030), there will be no deficiencies <br />within the Indian River County public school system. <br />POLICY 1.1: The County hereby adopts the LOS standards for public schools at 100% of <br />FISH permanent capacity. <br />POLICY 1.2: The County hereby adopts the School Board's current public school <br />attendance boundaries; as the School Service Areas Boundaries (SSAR). The SSAUs <br />exclude magnet and charter schools. <br />POLICY 1.3: The County and the School District, shall utilize the following procedures <br />for modifying SSARs: <br />a. The School District will transmit a proposed SSAH modification with data and <br />analysis to support the change to the Cities, the County, and the <br />To..hni .al n dvisefy Committee (SPT n r)Staff Working Group (S WG). Any <br />proposed change to the SSARs shall require a demonstration by the Seheel <br />Det -that the change complies with the public school LOS standard, and that <br />utilization of wheel--eapai is m imine greatest extent <br />passihletransportation costs, court approved desegregation plans and other factors <br />have been taken into account to ensure the maximum utilization of school <br />capacity to the greatest extent possible, <br />b. The County, the Cties, and the SPTACSWG will review the proposed <br />modification and send their comments to the School District within 45 days of <br />receipt of the proposed change. <br />c. The modification of the SSARs shall be effective upon adoption by the School <br />Board. <br />OBJECTIVE 2: SCHOOL CONCURRENCY REVIEW <br />After 2010, there will be adequate school facility capacity within the Indian River County <br />public school system to accommodate projected development at the adopted level of <br />Community Development Department Indian River County <br />45 <br />
